A Stewardship Message from Vestry Member Janette Gautier
One Sunday, thirty years ago, I came to a service at Epiphany. In the bulletin it said, “If you’d like to volunteer for our Wednesday Dinner for the Homeless, please contact Mac McCarthy.” I did. Fast forward: I’ve been the Volunteer Director now for a little over 26 years. People ask me why I have done it for so long. The simple answer: I love it, and it puts life in perspective. I found that making a difference in people’s lives was something I needed in my life.
The last 18 months have been difficult. We’ve had to adjust to giving out bagged meals instead of our usual sit-down dinners. The guests miss the sense of community the sit-down meals provided, but at least they get a nutritious hot meal. We have been serving between 80 and 90 a week now.
