The Epiphany Vestry Tours 351 East 74th Street
"How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty!" (Psalm 84, v.1) It may seem odd to hear that verse applied to a building that's only about 75% complete, where scaffolding still shrouds the facade, and inside, cables and air ducts wait to be enclosed in finished walls and ceilings. But that verse is exactly what members of the Vestry felt two Thursdays ago as we toured our new home at 351 East 74th Street. We walked through the spaces for our new parish hall, the kitchen for the Carter Burden Senior Lunch Program, the Wednesday Night Dinner Program, both floors for our exceptional day school, the choir room (a personal favorite!), and of course, our new sanctuary. The gasps were audible as we stepped inside and caught a glimpse of what will be God's new dwelling place at Epiphany. We were even blessed to watch a piece of our beloved stained glass from our current chapel, cleaned and refurbished, be installed into its new home in the apse. It was a transformative moment for many of us there, seeing past what is incomplete to what will be when we move next Summer, a truly worthy and lovely dwelling place for our God, and for our community in Jesus Christ.
