From the Interim Organist & Choir Director - April
MUSIC NEWS ITEMS
Kyle Miller, one of our choir section leaders, was baritone soloist for a Juilliard 415 Orchestra concert March 28 at Alice Tully Hall devoted to music of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. I was at the concert and can report that he sang beautifully to an enthusiastic audience. Kyle is with us through Easter before he moves away from New York.
I am working with the organ builders on details of the Bigelow organ for 351 with regards to the layout of the keydesk (console).
On Good Friday, April 15, music for choir and organ will be presented at 11:30 am before the Noon Good Friday Liturgy.
Our Easter liturgy will be especially festive with the addition of two trumpet players from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Returning to a pre-pandemic custom, all members of the congregation will be invited to join the choir in singing the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah. Those who want the sheet music will be invited to come forward at the end of the service to sing.
All choir members are still welcome to sing one or more special services this spring. Here is the link again to the invitation and schedule. Click Link Please contact me to let us know you’re coming to sing on one or more dates.
Wishing all a blessed Holy Week and joyous Easter!
--Stephen Rapp, Interim Organist & Choir Director
